Caro Loria // Liberia, Costa Rica

It’s pretty funny how things fall into place sometimes. Some call them coincidences, I call them ordinances - God-ordained. Some things are just too precise to be a coincidence. For example, I reached out to Caro before I left San Antonio, but she told me she couldn’t participate because she was going to the beach on her only free day.

Whilst boarding my plane from San Antonio to Houston, I sat next to a gentleman who looked as sleepy as I was. Fully intending to sleep on the flight, I made an offhand comment about my jealousy of his window seat. He told me how he had driven in from Austin that morning, and that he should’ve just driven to Houston to make his connection to Costa Rica. “I’M GOING TO COSTA RICA TOO!!!” I exclaimed, now fully awake. I explained my ballet project, to which Greg asked if I might be interested in photographing inside a magazine-esque house, and proceeds to pull up images from several online magazines showing the most picturesque mountain-side home overlooking the Pacific Ocean, complete with it’s own infinity pool.

As much as I would have loved to, my only viable ballerina connection was not available the only day Greg was available - because she was going to the beach. Thankfully, Greg gave me his number and told him to call me if anything changes, and finally got to sleep.

To my complete surprise, when I land, I reached out to Cora once more, and what a joy it was to hear that the beach she was visiting was 2 miles from Greg’s house. Out of all the beaches in Costa Rica, imagine that.
