Caroline Baldwin // Copenhagen, Denmark
When I arrived in Copenhagen, the first thing that caught my attention was the city's impressive design aesthetic. The metro station, in particular, resembled an Apple Store with its immaculate and purposeful design. The combination of cool steel slabs and sleek lighting transformed the mundane task of waiting for the train into an experience that felt almost futuristic.
On the night prior to the shoot, as I struggled to sleep due to jet lag, I began searching for impressive architectural structures in Copenhagen. During my search, one building that frequently caught my attention was 'Krystallen,' which translates to 'The Crystal.' All I can say is that the lines of this building were absolutely stunning, and I gravitated towards how it particularly seemed to slope upwards.
Caroline is a Chicago native, but quickly acclimated to Denmark life. Riding bikes is a way of life, and when she showed up to the shoot riding that retro bike, I knew I wanted to include it somehow. I thought the simple combination of minimal lines, circles, and subtle ballet composed on the rule of thirds would make for a nice photo.
