Chloe Freytag // Miami, FL
This shoot happened to be one of the most unique shoots that I’ve done yet. After 18 shoots and rolls of film on my Hasselblad Ballet goes to Europe expedition, I didn’t think I would want to photograph a ballerina on my 7.5 hour layover in Miami. If I’m being truthful, it was probably more due to the fact that all the Miami City Ballet ballerinas I knew were working on Tuesday at 4pm. However, during my shoot with Emily in Alicante, she mentioned her connections with Miami ballerinas (having been herself a principal soloist at MCB), and suggested I connect with Chloe Freytag, a ballerina (also formerly of MCB) in the Miami area.
Despite the 6 hour + time difference, Chloe immediately said yes, with one caveat: she had to bring along her nursing newborn baby. I had no problem with this, though… babies are nice! So we settled on shooting in the Design District, and had the soundtrack of a cooing and happy baby (with babysitter-in-tow) as the backdrop of our shoot…
