For this image, we were standing on top of a parking lot in the Museum District, an area known for cool design and funky art on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. This particular parking lot was infused with many artistic beautifications, and was essentially a magnet for photographers. 

I counted at least 15 different photoshoots going on at the same time, and one was this shoot with Varia. Varia is a model from Saint Petersburg, Russia, and recently moved to Miami to pursue a career in fitness: making all us food lovers look extra out of shape. After consulting with Julia and her boyfriend, I thought it would be cool if we could somehow combine this ballet shoot with a little of Varia’s fashion shoot - after all, Julia was rocking it in the fashion department herself, too. I felt bad asking to crash their photoshoot, but only for half a second. The photographer graciously said yes, and Varia was up for it. 

Julia - herself now a newly-made Texas resident - owns a great leotard and dance wear company. It just occurred to me that maybe Varia can model those next time she’s in Texas.
