Six Ballerinas // San Antonio, TX

“No, you can’t sit with us; you’re not wearing a tutu.” I had had this idea for a photo for awhile, but didn’t think to include so many ballerinas in one image, especially for this book project. I knew I wanted as cohesive look as possible, so did the only logical thing and bought a box of 24 black sunglasses on Amazon. I’m just extremely grateful that the image ended up being in focus. You don’t realize how short a traffic light cycle is until you have six ballerinas run into the street, stop traffic, and focus the Hasselblad - all with a growing crowd of tourists watching and taking their own pictures.
