Towards the later half of this project, I made it a conscious effort to incorporate hard shadows and allow the ballerina to become a part of the environment. I don’t have any strong background in design whatsoever, but I do appreciate good design - and lines! - especially when captured in photography. This specific shoot made me become purposeful towards the composition and framing of each shot - which in turn caused the length of the shoots in increase in time considerably. Over the course of the project I have introduced several measures that I feel have improved the quality of the images, but at the same time have slowed down the process. This slowing down is why I love this project so much; I don’t get to take 2,000 images in one session. I think, too, some ballerinas might even like that.
