Brittany Stone // Washington, D.C.
There was something that made me a bit uneasy at the thought of shooting a session at the Lincoln Memorial: I thought it might be irreverent. I was only using the steps as a meeting point with the ballerina, and I thought I would visit first to ponder upon the 16th President, one of my favorite Presidents of all time. Even at 6am, though, the Memorial was full of tourists, and I no longer felt irreverent. Coincidentally, during the shoot, I kept thinking Brittany was related to John Lennon, another American who had been assassinated. Standing at the foot of this monument, you can almost feel the weight of the history of what Lincoln was able to accomplish.
