Eastlyn Jensen // Phoenix, AZ

Eastlyn marked the start of a distinct change in how I approached this project. Whilst still a ballerina project (kinda hard to remove ‘ballet’ from Hasselblad Ballet), I now try to approach each shoot differently, wanting to make an interesting photo that just happens to have a ballerina in the photo. I started thinking long-term  about how to really differentiate my project from the hundreds of other (extremely talented) ballerina photographers out there. As a result, the ballerina-image almost takes a back-seat into creating a unique ballet-flavored image. I got to shoot with Eastlyn twice in a period of a week, and I’m grateful she allowed me to try something different - even weird - with her. Now if only I can convince Phoenix weather to not be north of 100° all the time.
