Ida Kallanvaara // Madrid, Spain

After many months of planning, I thought this shoot might never happen. I reached out to Ida four and a half months before our scheduled shoot date, and she agreed instantly. Then, almost one month before we are to shoot, her ballet company suddenly closes, and ida leaves Madrid to Rome. I tried to be as tactful as possible, asking perhaps if we could move our shoot from Madrid to Rome; instead, she told me she would fly to Madrid to honor our shoot date. The day of the shoot dawned sunny and bright, but come time for the actual shoot, we had to cancel because of a sudden downpour that turned the day into a cold, dreary scene. Thankfully, Ida was committed to the shoot, and we rescheduled for the next morning, to an absolutely perfect morning. The shoot that almost never happened, happened.
