Margaux Gaudy-Talazac // Paris, France
Even though we had permission, we still snuck around Palais Garnier Opera at 21:00 like little mice, afraid to walk into the open for fear a rouge security guard would turn us in and ruin the shoot. Shooting in the iconic Studio Zambelli on the 5th floor, seconds before the first frame was made, all the lights turned off. This killed the ambient light from 1/125th to 1/30th, two entire stops @ f/5.6. This forced me to be creative - or try to be creative - and most of the shoot occurred near the sole mirror light. Eight frames in, we finally ventured out and explored the history building. On the last frame, two security guards finally caught us, simply wishing us a good evening and walking away, “bonne nuit”.
