Patricia Main // Lisbon, Portugal

When I landed in Lisbon, the skies were dark and thundering, less than 20 hours from my scheduled shoot with Patricia. I remember stressing out as I sat in the coffee shop, planning this shoot, trying to figure out where to photograph. I made small talk with a girl in the coffee shop, and she immediately suggested Fundação Champalimaud as a location. When I looked online at pictures, I fell in love. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the building was basically a photographer’s dream playground for photos. Besides the weather, I now only had to worry about permission - or rather, not getting kicked out. Thankfully, day of shoot turned out to be sunny, and I was able to shoot for almost 75 minutes before security thought it fair to usher us off the premises. “That’s typical of Portugal security - to wait a good while before they decide to kick you off their property”, said Patricia. “Well, how awfully kind of them”, I thought.
