Thamires Chuvas // San Francisco, CA

Ths is one of those scenes where I asked the ballerina to just fit in. Thamires makes the 5 foot door frame seem much smaller than it really is, with how easily she filled the space. A forced downside to shooting with this specific type of camera is that it is inherently slow. It faces me to think while I focus: ‘do I really need this frame? Do I like the composition?’ It also takes me quite a while to ensure I have properly and accurately focused. It’s so easy for me to stand there and forget the effort the ballerina is exerting to hold the pose. I joke that this is easy and I can hold it all day long. Thamries doesn’t find it as funny as I seemed to find it.
