Carmela Mayo // Paris, France
While flying to Paris, I saw a past participant (Jahna Frantziskonis) post pictures vacationing in Paris while her company was on tour in Europe, and I immediately reached out to try to organize a last minute shoot. Though Jahna couldn’t squeeze me into her schedule last minute, she graciously referred me to Carmela, a fellow film shooter.
Thankfully, Carmela (a San Francisco resident) was up for a last minute shoot. To me, this shot is so Paris - quintessential cafe that could be found on almost any corner - without yelling Paris. There’s something really lovely about the simplicity of her pose, expression, and outfit - and espresso, of course.
I had literally said goodbye to one ballerina when Carmela showed up for her shoot, and I was also in a rush - so much so that I started the shoot without having loaded a roll of film into my camera. *insert face palm emoji*
