Lucia Rios // Paris, France

I had planned a trip to Europe in November of 2019 to escape my 30th birthday. I figured if nobody told me “Happy birthday” in person, then it wouldn’t actually count. My plan almost worked, except that Lucia told me HBD before our shoot, and I suddenly felt old. Oftentimes, random “passerbyers” will stop and gawk during my photoshoots - the polite ones at least ask to take pictures. That this was photographed mere feet from The Louvre, one of the busiest museums in the world, only magnified this issue. For this particular shot, a crowd of easily 100 tourists stopped to admire Lucia’s finesse - that I was blocking the walkway to make the photograph probably also had a small part to do with the crowd of admirers. I think it’s nice when’s others can stop and pass to admire the beauty of the ballerinas as she dances and poses in the street.
