Besides falling in love with the amazing detail from the large negative, I loved how the light splattered across the frame, from east to west.

I’m a huge fan of shadows - hard sunlight can produce some great images, and can really accent the muscular figures of the dancers. 

I had planned a trip to Europe in November of 2019 to escape my 30th birthday. I figured if nobody told me “Happy birthday” in person, then it wouldn’t actually count.

It’s a testament to the dancer’s love for their craft that they are willing to meet with a random photographer who reached out to them via social media, and be willing to shoot in 33°F (.5°C) weather in a tutu with bare legs.
